- Factory fresh Litz wire from New England Wire and Cable
This wire contains 175 strands of individually insulated #46 wire.
The # 46 wire size is the ideal gauge for the AM broadcast band, providing for the highest "Q" coils and
loop antennas. Equivalent wire size is 24 AWG and the wire diameter is .029"
Each strand of #46 wire is woven in a very specific pattern to minimize both skin effect and proximity
effect losses in the bundle.

The wire cuts easily and solders with a simple 25 to 35 watt soldering iron. It is not even necessary to
pull off the nylon. Just solder right on top of it and the nylon melts back and seals the end.
