Here is the W1VLF SID Antenna monitoring Station NAA in Cutler Maine on 24 KHz.
The antenna is designed to drive 50 Ohm coax cable. This makes it easy to locate the
antenna remotely in the back yard, the woods, on the roof of the old barn or even inside
he house.
To find out more about more about Monitoring SID's and what they can tell you here is
a link to the Moore Observatory in Brownsboro, Kentucky
They use the 24 Khz Cutler Maine signal for their observation.
The 24 Khz Antenna is more compact then previous versions at only 19" long. Still this
antenna will easily deliver a -70 Dbm signal into a 50 ohm receiver from the NAA
station in Cutler Maine. This is without a preamplifier and driving 120 feet of RG 59
coax cable.
Sudden Ionospheric Disturbance (SID) An abnormally high ionization density in the D region caused by an occasional sudden solar flare. This affects the radio spectrum in the VLF, LF, MF and HF bands

The antenna uses a standard SO-234 chassis connector which mates with you PL-259
UHF type connector. The whole assembly fits into the screw fitting and makes a
convenient water tight interface to the antenna.
This photo of the antenna shows the overall size. The PVC housing is made from 1"
diameter pipe. The mounting pipe can easily cut to what ever length you need to
accommodate your installation.
